for bones do not await
the embrace of flesh.
Rather, imagine Mary
untethered, a new life
beginning at 50,
leading her away from
a tombstone bearing her name,
choosing to rest next
to another, or alone,
and proving that fate
can be written in stone,
yet still hold no sway.
