Dolo Diaz: “Environmental Collapse”

Environmental Collapse

I kept it cool
through the catalog of plastics,
the elephant slaughter,
the water-is-life audience chorus,
the praise and please,
audience chorus at

one finger
two fingers,

the remote wars
and famines,

the one fish
two fish
no fish

dissonance.

But the song of the Kauaʻi ʻōʻō got me:
the mating call
of the only
one left.
